Isn’t the literacy rate at an all-time low? Aren’t blogsites boring?

It’s all true. The US literacy rate is at a 79%. Podcasts have paved a path over blogsites. There’s no discernable way for me to make money off of this. And despite all of the warning signs, I have a lot of fun writing so I’m gonna do it anyway.

This all stemmed from my Film Art class. My professor structured our weekly assignments into blogposts. I loved the approach; it gave me a sort of ‘free-wheeling’ sensibility to my papers. I got to write in my own personal voice while watching some truly phenomenal films.

When the class ended, I decided to keep the blogs coming. I figured if I got at least one person from my class to sign up for a newsletter, I’d make a real website and start posting weekly blogs. I did better than one. I got two. And only one of them is my incredibly supportive and totally real girlfriend, Page. The other is a classmate of mine, hey Miah!

I’m a very opinionated person, and like opinionated people, I need to get my thoughts out there. It doesn’t really matter if anyone reads them, I just have to expel them from my body, like bile. I’m not trying to change the world or improve the film industry, I’m just a guy that spent his entire life in front of a TV and have no other discernable skills; this is all I can do.

The blogs I post here will be a range of film reviews, conversations about the TV I watch, the occasional book, and whatever discourse is going on in relation to media.

I watch a pretty wide variety of films from classics, all the way to self-produced micro-budget Tubi movies. My TV watching is pretty bland: it’s a lot of HGTV and every single Gordon Ramsay TV show he releases (which is challenging due to the sheer volume of TV shows he produces).

So, in a rare moment of earnest gratitude, thank you so much for subscribing to my blog. I truly hope you enjoy it.
